Honouring God. Following Jesus. Serving Others.

At our Church meeting on 24th October 2010, we agreed on the following statements and values.

CORE VALUES

Our identity as Christian people is determined by our belief in Father, Son & Spirit; as seen in the life of Jesus, His teaching, His example and our response. Our core values then should be :

A worshipping community – which affirms and celebrates the whole nature of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
As such, this means we will endeavour that our services will reflect the breath of worship in the Kingdom, so that all are inspired to live in the ways of Christ.

A missionary community – ‘GO’ - forgiveness, reconciliation and transformation, local and international.
That we, compelled by His love will take seriously the Great Commission and commit both individually and corporately to being enthusiastic about all aspects of mission.

A disciple making community – serving, praying, learning and growing more Christ-like.
As such, we are personally committed to growing in our understanding of whom God is and through training and resourcing strengthen ourselves for His service. Valuing and promoting prayer so that people can serve God with enthusiasm as we care for each other.

A people of the Word community – holistic gospel and social gospel as one.
At EBC the Word of God is taught in such a way that people will be better equipped to align their values, beliefs and practices to God’s Kingdom.

A Baptist community – scriptural, radical, confessing and celebrating the faith.
Therefore we commit to being distinctive - working locally and nationally within the Baptist family.

A prophetic community- confronting evil, injustice and hypocrisy in our world.
As such, we will be a people of compassion, committed to helping the needy, a place where the hurting can find Christ’s love and justice is proclaimed.

A sacrificial community- incarnate (intentional) work of Christ in the community in which we live and work.
We commit to work as salt and light in a hurting society, seeking to use Godly influence to allow the Holy Spirit to change the destiny of many.

An inclusive community – transcending racial barriers, gender, class, age and culture
As such, we will value all people, children and cultures so that together we may be built up to the glory of God. Wanting as a church to grow larger and yet small enough to let people feel a valued part of the whole through our small group network.

Tree

These 8 core values will underpin our mission statement, our commitment to God as: We long to see people love as Christ loves, joyfully worshiping, enthusiastically telling others of Christ and devotedly glorifying God as empowered by the Holy Spirit.
